Oh, hi there, remember me? I’m one of those two girls who used to write actual blog posts before they started doing all these crazy back-to-school giveaways (which you have til Monday at 3 pm to enter! So do it!)!!
So, anyways, the giveaway posts are done and now I have a tale to tell, about how graceful and coordinated I am. And how, as all of you know, I am a perfect housewife.
And my fabulous new Frigidaire Affinity washer & dryer *might* figure into said tale. Which starts like this:
A couple of months ago, in the same week in which I began the HELL on earth that was potty training Sophie, I accidentally (because really, WHO would do that on PURPOSE?) threw a DIAPER in the wash with Sophie’s pee-pee laundry. When I opened my beautiful new washer (which I had less than 2 weeks at that point) I was horrified to see that gel stuff that is inside diapers ALL OVER my washer, and Sophie’s CLOTHES. When I realized what I had done, I was slightly despondent.
When I realized I was going to have to scoop that diaper-gel all out by hand, I was severely despondent.
And then, I was thankful. For three things: 1) That my Frigidaire Affinity washer & dryer BOTH have a “Sanitize” setting, 2) that the diaper I washed was only a pee-pee diaper and contained no poop and 3) that my Frigidaire washer also came with a coupon for Tide Washing Machine cleaner (which I had learned about at Fabric Care University).
I raced to the store with said coupon, bought the cleaner, ran it through my washer, and WOW it was never so clean, not even when it was brand-new!
Then, I sanitized the CRAP (oh, pun SO, SO intended) out of those clothes with the “sanitize” setting.
My Frigidaire appliances are fortunately much more graceful and coordinated than I am. And SO much better at doing laundry than I am. If only they could cook dinner and bear children, they’d probably replace housewives altogether!
This review is part of my participation in the Frigidaire Test Drive program. I am on Team Washer and Dryer and totally get to keep said bad-a** appliances. Thanks to Frigidaire and Mom Central for making me a part of this awesome campaign!
1. I had no idea they sold a product that cleaned out the washing machine! Have to look in to that.
2. I thought I was literally the ONLY woman who believed that potty training was Hell on Earth! To talk to my mommy friends you would think kids practically potty trained themselves. Not my kids! My son was not really opposed to training but it took a couple years to really get it. Yes! A couple years. His biggest hang-up was poo (I won’t go in to details). When it came time for my daughter, I just decided to let her decide on her own. Seriously! I bought her some Dora undies, sat her on the toilet a couple times (about 6 months ago) and just kept talking to her about being a big girl and going in the potty. She doesn’t like cold wipes and I think that was partly the reason she made the decision. She put on her panties about 5 days ago and, so far, things are going well. We haven’t conquered the poo thing, but again, I won’t give details.
I enjoyed your story. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who does crazy things.
You are so lucky!!! now to clean the soda spew off my table when I read your post.
Dude! Molly once peed so much at night that her diaper exploded! There was little crystals of diaper inside and pee all over her crib and in her hair!
oh man! at least you had the fancy washer 🙂
Three things. One: I have done this not just once or twice or even three times. I cannot even report how many times. It will depress you and make you think I am incredibly stupid. Two: Scooping out the gel beads and shaking them out of the clothes is a hideous task for those of us who do no have the amazing-machine. I did it just the other day in the 100 degree heat; it sucked. Three: I am not trying to undermine the awesomeness of the “sanitize setting;” however, as a former and occasionaly cloth diaper user, any hot wash will sanitize clothes from pee. Just in case you are ever stranded in the jungle with a plain old fashioned washing machine. . . .
I had no idea about the stuff to clean out a washer either. We just bought our first NEW washer and dryer this summer and I want to keep it like new. Thanks and THANK GOODNESS you got it cleaned out.
