If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know that Emily likes to make fun of me for being older than she is. And the fact remains – I can NEVER change that! And as the years go by, it’s not as cute of a joke as it used to be. Because dangit in the past few years I’ve acquired two heating pads, lots of tubes of Icy Hot (and patches, ooh love the patches!), a chiropractor, a massage therapist, and a pill splitter. Sigh. My body is just not what it used to be. I mean, I’m still smokin’ hot and all, but I’ve got more than my share of aches and pains these days. And with that comes the occasional prescription as well as some natural supplements I take every day to stay healthy.

But due to a serious case of Momnesia, I often forget to take things or refill them on time. Whoopsie! Like I’ve said before, I’m my own worst enemy.

My forgetfulness (if I get out of my routine, I am hopeless!) when it comes to taking my supplements and medications has messed me up a few times, so I’m glad to have found a great app to help me manage not only my daily meds, but also anything my kids are taking when they have the occasional Rx. You know I love apps, and since I always have my phone on me, the reminders are convenient and I always get the message. This fab app is called the Care4Today™ Mobile Health Manager, and I love it! It’s available on iTunes, Google Play, and on the web – for FREE!

Not only does Care4Today™ remind you of medications you need to take, it also lets you create a record to share with family members or health professionals so they can see how you’re doing, and as I mentioned, you can set reminders for your family members’ medications too.

To learn more about this app and get lots of great health tips for the new year, I hope you’ll join me, the Motherhood, and some other great bloggers for a #Care4Today twitter party on Thursday – that’s tomorrow! – at 1 pm EST. To RSVP and join us, heck out all the info below. We’ll be giving away lots of great prizes to those who tweet along with us.

What the Crap. I mean What the Nap.

Here is a brief review of the last few days of my life.

First, this happened:

Celllllebrate good times come ON!!! #backtoschool I had to tell Joshua a Minions fart joke to get him to smile like that.

And then this happened:

jennyjonah
We’re trying not to gloat.

And all went well for a couple of days.

Until Jonah decided that he no longer needs to NAP.

I said "make a happy face!"
This is Jonah gloating about the fact that he is at the park when HE SHOULD BE IN BED TAKING A NAP!!

You guys.
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting ALL summer long to get 5.5 FREAKING SECONDS TO MYSELF, and Jonah decides to give up naps as soon as the big kids go back to school?? REALLY? THIS IS HAPPENING?

I am about to lose my mind. So far the nap score is 0-2 this week, and today, Wednesday, is the only day I have to pick the kids up from school (carpool FTW!!!!!), but that means that he will not get one today either.

So I figure by Thursday, either he is gonna be really tired, or I am gonna be really screwed. Possibly both.

Jonah is going to have to start preschool in January due to his speech delay (because he turns 3 in December and they kick you out of “Help Me Grow” when you turn 3), and I was ready for him to give up his naps then, because and only because I will then have 2 hours and 45 minutes of freedom Monday through Thursday every week.

(I am actually beside myself with sadness over him having to start school so soon, but if he keeps up this no-napping crapola maybe I will weep with joy. Who knows?)

Anypoops. I’m tired. And I want to live in a room by myself where no one can touch me, ask for anything or need their rear end wiped. Which reminds me I need to get him potty trained by January. Which makes me even more depressed. Which makes me want Dunkin’ Donuts. Which reminds me that I have a wheat allergy AND I CAN NEVER HAVE AN ORIGINAL DUNKIN’ GLAZED AGAIN. Which makes me more depressed…

If you need me, I’ll be under a pile of Hershey bar wrappers and Mountain Dew cans.

A Pain in the…

I realize the title may be misleading, so let me clarify one thing up front: this post is not about Emily.

HahahahhahahahaHA I crack myself up!

No, no, sadly, this post is about my continuing quest to become geriatric before my time.

Duuudes,  I don’t know what I did to my back, but it’s not getting better. The chiropractor seemed to be helping at first, but now I feel like I’ve taken some steps back. And I’ve been a good girl about doing my $#% exercises and keeping my appointments. (And also? I HATE getting adjusted. I can’t believe some of you weirdos enjoy that. And also? I’ve spent a lot of money on this to not feel any better.)

So far the only thing that really helps the pain is the heating pad and Icy Hot/Ben-Gay patches on my back. I’ve been taking massive doses of Aleve to no avail, so I’ve decided to stop doing that. I’m getting so desperate I am about to hit the mean streets of Dayton and troll for some pain meds (just kidding, please do not arrest me.)

I’ve got another doctor’s appointment this week with my regular doctor and I’m hoping he will prescribe me a magical anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxer or WHATEVER and maybe even refer me to a PT. Although I am going to try to get in with a massage therapist this week as well.

Because being in pain is exhausting. I don’t know how those of you who live with chronic pain do it. It also makes me feel a bit panicky when it’s hurting really bad and I can’t get any relief.

So anyway. I’m feeling like I’m 35 going on 70. With the face, of course, of a 20-year-old. My saving grace, right? Ha ha ha ha ha.

Somebody fix me!
