At least it is if you’re in Ohio (or Texas), as we are!
Lots of people worked tirelessly, were imprisoned and died so that we can all have a say in our government. The least we can do is vote! It’s really not that hard… we don’t even have hanging chads to worry about this time. So even if you have to drag the kids out in the rain, stand in a long line because only two of the six booths are operational and be late for work (not that this happened to me this morning or anything), it’s well worth it.
I am on pins and needles waiting for the election results. Not only do we have the primary race of the century going on in Ohio, but our school district is trying to pass a big levy that will, if it passes, provide the funds to build a brand new k-12 campus. It’s been quite the controversy in our little community, and it could really go either way. It’s not that I’m opposed to sending my kids (and my husband) to a school that’s full of asbestos, has poor air quality and is completely not handicap accessible or anything, but I really hope it passes.
So anyway, go vote!
I’m heading out this afternoon to vote my conscience. Even though it probably won’t make a difference. :/
I’m also headed out this afternoon….definitely before the polls close. This will be one night that I will watch for the results!!
I just got back from Voting. When I went in I was the ONLY ONE!!! I hope this is not the way it has been all day! Man I love those new voting machines though. They are fab-u-lous!
I did! I went at 7:30 after dropping my daughter off at school. Plenty of parking and no lines. Yay!
Our CHICK FIL A was offering FREE CHICKEN SANDWICHES if you show them your “I voted today” sticker. Couple that with a buy a combo get a kids meal free TUESDAY deal we ate for $5.05 tonight!
Here’s a cute little story too. Sorry I didn’t share it in the earlier post, but I was JUST SO EXCITED about FREE CHICK FIL A!
I pulled into the VFW with my 4 year old to go vote. She had already made a trip to the polls earlier with her dad and wasn’t very happy to be going back. She asked what we were doing here – AGAIN! I told her that voting is a privilege. She asked, “like doing webkinz or watching tv?” I told her, kind of, but not quite. We get to pick who gets to be the boss of the whole United States. “Kind of how you are the boss of the whole family?”
Yes, something like that.
Except I am more of a dictator rather than I president. But that’s a whole other conversation for when she gets older.
We got up at 5:30 (way too early!) and got there at 6:15 b/c of horror stories of record waits for early voting….we were 2nd and 3rd in there…whew! We voted for the levy and my parents said they would too so hopefully it passes!!
