Freak Show Friday

I don’t have a lot of “talents,” so to speak. I can’t sing, I don’t dance, and you’ve seen the pictures I take (on my cell phone).

I do have one useless talent, though – finding four-leaf clovers.

I don’t really know why, but it’s just my thing. In the last few months, I can recall finding one when I was on a field trip with Kate, at a couple swim meets, outside my office, and various other places. It always excites me to find one, though, and when I say “I found a four-leaf clover!” my husband’s response is “Of course you did.”

I don’t do anything with them, I don’t keep them or press them or anything, but I always think it’s neat to find one on a special occasion. Like the picture above – I found that one on Sam’s birthday. On Wednesday, the day my niece was born, I found one in my sister’s front yard. That one I kept – Anna is a scrapbooker and I thought that would be a neat addition to Lilly’s baby book.

It’s a useless talent, but it’s mine.

What’s your random talent? Come on, I know there must be some other freaks out there!

  1. Not sure that its a talent (more of a physical oddity) – my elbows are double jointed. Pretty sure dh didn’t realize that prior to our marriage as it completely disgusts him! ROFL I also speak French which is utterly useless in the midwest.

  2. What a great talent! I always look for 4-leaf clovers but rarely find them. My talent is winning things. I always win random things. Yesterday, I won a monthly giveaway for a purse from Akressories AND I also won a $250 gift card to IKEA from the Huggies Enjoy the Ride Rewards.

  3. I have a talent for doing things the hard way. I never think of the easy and efficient way to do any task, until,of course, I have already done it the hard way.

  4. well i’m not sure this is a freaky talent but i can run alot. as in run marathons and half marathons and such. i know some people would consider that freaky… 🙂 but i love it!

  5. what a fun talent you have, I don’t think I’ve ever found a four leaf clover unless it was for sale in a gift shop! Hmmm, my talent might be gaining the trust of other people’s pets. Even if they’re anti-social/shy I seem to get at least a touch from them when no one else has been allowed to approach. I guess this is good since we occasionally have runaway pets in our neighborhood and I feel like since I have this talent I am obliged to help them get home. (with great power comes great responsibility? lol!)
oh, I can also i.d. almost every insect in the state I live in-not sure if that’s a talent but I really like bugs, always have, they’re like wild animals you can actually play with! (missed my calling as an entomologist)

  6. My random talent is that I am a jack of all trades master of none. I like to fix things and be creative about it…I guess that is the Libra coming out in me…I enjoy any kind of art work/project per say! See each of us are as unique as those darn four leaf clovers you pick!!

  7. i can wiggle my ears “one at a time”, alternating, and both together. When we were teenagers, your dad thought that was the craziest thing ever. He even made me perform for people once…it was “ya gotta see this, he can alternate them”…Hey, don’t judge, it was the 60s, and well…i was the 60s

    UP

  8. Often times I will start singing the next song on the radio before it comes on. It freaks people out, but I just think its because I listen to the radio enough that I know what kind of music they like to play together.

    Or something like that.

  9. I can put the tip of my tongue IN my nostril. And I can spin my hand all the way around… hard to explain. Ask me when I see you next and I will show you! (Oy, I just realized, I am walking freak show.)

  10. Well, you must be special, even if you don’t have one of the ordinary talents. My mother used to find a four-leaf clover before she had me and my brother, meaning not long before she gave birth …soooo, it is something special…the least you can say is that you have pretty good eyes, which is rare nowadays, with all this computer era
