Come Together

Last night while trying to get Jonah settled down, Bobby and I were watching highlights of the Royal Wedding on You Tube.  We were both just amazed at the huge crowds of British people out to celebrate this marriage of their future king.

“Say what you will about the monarchy being outdated and archaic,” I said, “but there is NOTHING in America that would bring our country together like this.  We got nothin’.”

Bobby agreed. (Such a smart guy, really.)

Around 10 p.m.  we got Jonah to sleep and I went to bed.

When Jonah woke up at 2:15, Bobby told me, “After you went to bed, the President made an announcement that they got Osama Bin Laden.  He’s dead!”

I grinned sleepily.  Grinned like the Cheshire Cat.

This morning, I awoke to thousands of pictures like the one above all over news outlets and and Flickr.

It seems I was wrong when I spoke last night.

Justice can bring Americans together.  And today, we have Justice.

Thank you to your government and military for continuing to pursue it and win it. God Bless America!

  1. A friend who works for the military got called to DC last night. We have justice, but we don’t have peace. My prayers are with the military & their families.
