A drool-covered Sophie (she is teething soooo hard right now!) climbs up on the couch and then onto my lap. She stands up, and plays with my hair a little bit. Then she wraps both her soft little arms around my neck, presses her drooly cheek against mine, and says: “Eyelowyeeewwww. Eyelowyeeewwww.”
I love you. She just started saying it this week, and it’s the sweetest thing ever. Makes my heart melt every time.
Guess what else she finally started saying this week, at the ripe old age of 21 months?
Mommy.
Finally!
She loves me and she says my name!
It’s been a pretty good week around here.
Hannah still hasn’t mastered I love you. But she is coming up with all sorts of other words. Really want the “I love you” though
I’m so excted for you! I remember the day when I realized that Clinton, who always said “ee-YA-gun” as he went upstairs to bed, was really intoning “I love you” all those times. Poor kid; he was a hard one to understand. Don’t get to used to those words though. They go away around the age of ten and are replaced by “That is SO not fair!” and “You just don’t understand!” Just kidding. They are still there; you just have to listen a little harder.
How sweet! Congrats on such a successful week!
That’s so sweet!! It makes my heart melt.
So sweet!
My 15-month old said “mama” as her first word, but hasn’t said it since. She calls all of us “dada.” Poor Daddy!
Awwww, that has to be the sweetest thing ever!!!!
That makes my heart happy.
My youngest is turning 2 next week and he is trying to master saying I love you.
Isn’t it the greatest feeling when your child says that!
My 3 year old says it whenever he knows he is getting in trouble…….

That’s so sweet! I can’t wait to hear that!
Auh, there is nothing better! You’ll remember that forever. Make sure you capture it on video!
Awwwww. How sweet! 🙂 Drool and all!
She is a sweetie, but now she has more ammo in the nursing battle…when she starts throwing those at you when you try weaning her!! =)
I thought I was the only one whose child didn’t say mama as one of his first words…he’s 15 months. I thought he started saying in this week- turns out he was saying “yummy” not “mama”. And when I tell him to say Daddy he says “boppa” 🙂 He says all sorts of other stuff- can’t wait to hear those magic “I Love You” words!!
What a great thing! 🙂 Those words mean so much coming from the little one’s mouthes, don’t they? 🙂
