Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned Sophie’s hair-twirling? And how she makes the most impossible snarls in her hair? Let me offer some proof that I was not exaggerating. She did this a couple of weeks ago during naptime:
And these next ones are a couple angles of a puzzling creation she made with one hand while eating her lunch. Now, if that’s not talent, I don’t know what is!
Side view – look how far it sticks out!
Close-up – She’s like the Dale Chihuly of hair knots, I swear.
A few bottles of detangler and Xanax later and we had it all straightened out…I seriously need to buy stock in both!
I am right there with you, Jenna does this at least 5 or 6 times a day!!!
The first one almost looks like you purposefully styled it that way.
I can’t imagine how difficult it is to get those out. I was always getting my hair tangled as a child- I can still remember when they came out with detangler spray. That was a good day. π
At least she HAS enough hair to twirl. B still gets called a boy sometimes – to which I want to turn and say “Seriously?” but I restrain myself.
Ouch!
I nominated you for an award though! Check it out hehttp://onefrugallady.blogspot.com/2009/03/i-won-award.htmlre-
omigosh! how does she do that?
Brilliant: “Sheβs like the Dale Chihuly of hair knots”
I used to do this too. I’m sure it’s why my mom used to keep my hair short as a youngster.
Or the fact that she didn’t (and to this day still doesnt) know how to braid.
Love the Dale Chihuly reference. That is one impressive set of knots. Maybe she’ll grow up to be a yachtswoman? (is that even a word?)
Impressive, I am sure she can be a top notch knot (rope) maker for some boat..
Bossy senses the beginning of a new fashion trend.
My oldest used to do this when she was a preschooler. We had a long talk about it when she started kindergarten and she stopped doing it!! I told her I was worried that she was losing hair when I detangled it and that seemed to work. I was more surprised than anyone!
Ugh, P does this too. It takes forever to get the knots out sometimes if she’s had all night to work on ’em.
I’ve often wondered if it’s worry or something that makes them do it.
My 6-year-old used to be a hair-twirlin’ fiend! About two years ago she twirled a knot so bad I had to cut it out.
My youngest has very curly hair and I started using Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo for curly hair and I also just bought some leave in conditioner spray at Great Clips that works great (although it was more $$$ than I wanted to spend…I have literally spent at LEAST a half hour combing out tangles on her hair!)
GAH!
I need a drink just thinking about all o this. π
Yikes! That looks painful.
OMGoodness! I have a friend whose daughter always had a little dreadlock on the side. They kept her hair very short, though! You will single-handedly drive up the tangle spray stock!
