The First Last Day

In September, I told you all about Sophie’s first day of preschool.  And tomorrow, it will be her last day.

Well, her first last day, anyways.  Since she has a fall birthday, she will have two years of preschool. Thank God!  My heart literally hurts at the thought of kindergarten!

Sophie has changed a ton this year.  I mean a huge, huge change.  She already knew her ABCs and 123s, shapes, and colors, and all that academic stuff, but she was S-H-Y at the beginning of the year. She didn’t want much to do with the other kids.  Now, she is Miss Preschool Social 2011, and introduces herself to everyone that looks friendly at the park or the mall play place.  And, she who was once very protective of her personal space now enjoys invading others’, like she did to Andrea’s little guy Andon at our Tide Stain Release event on Sunday.

Poor Andon had no choice in the matter!

I could not be more proud of my little girl.  She has had a great year, made so many friends, and really picked up some great social skillz.  Not to mention cutting and pasting and drawing and writing her name and all that good stuff.

Sophie girl, I don’t know what I am going to do with you all summer!  But I sure am glad I got the gift of watching you become a big girl this year.  I love you SO much, and I LOVE being your mommy!

  1. Love that girl!! Man but Andon better watch his back, we all know that she is Evan’s!! I have LOVED watching Sophie blossom this year! What a transformation! And I also love that the girl hunts me down to get a hug each time she knows I’m close by! Makes my heart melt! So thankful I have a girl to love on – thanks Jenny for birthing her for letting me dote on her 😉

  2. In my teenager years, i had young cousins and they were always shy, even they( 2 girls and 1 boy) were big enough! – youngest – 4 years, middle – 5 years and oldest – 7 years. There never spoke with anyone but once oldest sister started to meet friends in school, others opened also. They took example from oldest sister. It was very interesting for me. My Charlotte is only one year old, so she will have to go though this later 🙂 But i dont think she will ever be from shy types!
Although, we with my cousins are almost best friends now and they are very opened! 🙂

  3. She’s such a pretty girl! I can’t believe how much she’s grown up over the past year from looking at the pictures on your blog. It didn’t look like her friend Andon was complaining too much about her company!

  4. I think Donovan’s LAST day of high school was the worst for me!

It was, “holy crap, my kids are all grown UP!

    UP

  5. My dd has a fall birthday too, and I couldn’t agree more! 2 years of preschool is just fine 🙂 They grow up way too fast. My daughters first last day is next tuesday.

  6. Sheesh you caught me at an emo moment! I started getting all teary… It has been a gift to watch your little lady grow up this past year. And I think we can attribute the awesome strides she’s made to her awesome mamma! You and Sophie are the awesomest!!

  7. My Claire has her first last day next week as she is a fall b-day as well. Although I have to admit I have some emotions to deal with. She has gone to the preschool where I used to work for 10 + yrs. and have some solid connections with the staff there. However, I had to make a brain decision over a heart one…she will be going to the preschool in the building where my older two attend school and is only 1 mile away. But, I couldn’t agree with you more on the social skills that were so beneficial! Claire has always been very anti-social. Not shy, but basically communicating with people on her terms. Preschool has helped her to “loosen up” a lot!

  8. Josie’s last day of preschool was yesterday! She is headed off to Kindergarten in the fall! I can’t believe that she is that big! Crazy how time flys when you are havin’ fun!
