33 and Pregnant

You may recall that Emily is a wee bit obsessed with MTV’s hit reality show 16 and Pregnant.  I’ve only ever seen the Caitlin-and-Tyler-give-their-baby-up-for-adoption episode, which I must admit WAS quite riveting.

But let me tell you about the reality that is too crazy for TV!  Probably because it would make MTV’s audiences scream and run away in terror.  Or make people stop procreating altogether.

33 and pregnant, baby.  I am keeping it REAL.

Real grumpy. Real fat.  Real hairy-legged.  Real WHINY.

When I had Joshua I was 26.  Now I feel like I have aged about 70 years instead of 7!  My feet are killing me, my BELLY hurts, I think I pulled a non-existent stomach muscle hauling Sophie out of the pumpkin patch yesterday, I can neither sit, stand, nor lie down comfortably and oh, the peeing!  The near incontinence!  It’s purty sexy.

It doesn’t help that Jonah is apparently the reincarnation of the dancing baby from Ally McBeal.  He is all party, all the time!  And he is ripping up my insides!

So that’s the reality.  MTV ain’t ready for this jelly!  I’m sure I’d get cancelled after one episode.  Like this morning’s episode, where I decided to remove my month-old leg hair with VEET instead of a razor because SURELY it would be easier, less bloody, and quicker.   Well.  It WAS less bloody.  And my leg hair is GONE!  But burning the hair off your legs is no easier than slicing it off when you’re a gazillion months pregnant, unfortunately.   Unless it’s just me!  Oh, but potential viewers, you’ll never know!  And you’re probably better off that way!

One episode that IS a tragedy to be missed – even though there aren’t any profanity-laden fights with either my parental figures or my baby daddy in store, is the Grande Finale when Emily ties my tubes in the operating room after I give birth!  That is going to be EPIC!

You’ll just have to settle for the blogged version!

Pony Up! Pink Pony Auction for Breast Cancer

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be working with Mom Central as a Ralph Lauren Ambassador over the next few months.  I can’t wait to share with you all the features of this multi-faceted brand!  But first I’m also happy to share with you something they are doing for a great cause that effects all women: Breast Cancer.

For the 10th consecutive year, Ralph Lauren is having a charity auction to benefit the Pink Pony Fund of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation.  The Pink Pony Fund supports programs for cancer screening, early diagnosis, treatment, and research.  As Emily and I both have cancer in our family, we are thrilled when big brands give such support to women’s cancers!  Because cancer, in general, totally sucks, whether you have dude cancer, chick cancer, or non-gender-specific cancer!

The Pink Pony auction is offering some fabulous items up for auction at Charity Buzz through Wednesday, October 21st. Make sure to stop by and check them out (there are even some celebrities getting into the action!  You can bid to meet LeBron James or on tickets to a Jerry Seinfelf show!) Some items are going for HUGE bids – Ralph Lauren is going to raise a bunch of money for this great cause!

Congrats, Ralph Lauren, on 10 years of fighting Breast Cancer with the Pink Pony Fund!

Sophie’s First Haircut

DSC05985
Before she realized what was happening

Thursday, at the ripe old age of three years and eleven months, my little Sophie got her FIRST haircut! It was extremely momentous.

And torturous.

Because even though my friend Amelia came over to our house and cut Sophie’s hair in the comfort of her own home, where she was sitting in front of her favorite tv show, Word World, she still screamed like she was being subjected to the most inhumane form of torture known to man. As a matter of fact, the above picture was the only one I got because Sophie spent the rest of her haircut holding on to my head as I held on to her entire being trying to keep her still!

It was CRAZY! She’s such a crazy.

So, Amelia was only able to get about two-three inches off. It looks great, though, and is slightly more manageable!

My dad even noticed without being told, which impressed my socks off! Of course, Sophie IS the apple of his eye.

A crazy, tempestuous, stubborn apple. Now with nicely trimmed hair!

(Which you can kinda sorta see in this picture of her on the tractor at Young’s Dairy!)

The closest I could get to a pose!

And yes, I did save a lovely, golden ringlet for posterity. How could I not?
