Eyeliner is, I think, one of the more complicated processes of doing your makeup. I mean, it’s pretty easy to screw up, right? One of the common reasons women don’t wear eyeliner is because they can’t get it to STAY ON, for goodness’ sake, and no one looks cute with her eyeliner down around her ankles, youknowwhatImean? Sometimes even if you have a good-quality eyeliner, the characteristics of your skin (oily, etc.) can make it hard to keep it on. And the skin under your eyes is very different from the skin on the rest of your face.
No matter what your skin type, I’ve got two QUICK, EASY tips to help you keep your liner on ALL DANG DAY. Take three minutes to watch and change your makeup routine and probably your LIFE for the better!
Ok, to recap!
Step 1: start with a DECENT liner. Some of my favorite drugstore liners are Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips custom enhancing eyeliner (these come in trios), CoverGirl Liquiline Blast, and Almay Wake Up eyeliner + highlighter.
Option 1: Use an eyeliner brush to apply pressed powder underneath your lash line where the liner will be. Then apply liner over top. The powder helps keep the liner in place.
Option 2: Use a cream shadow pencil (like CoverGirl flamed out shadow pencil) in a light color and apply it underneath your lash line where the liner will be. Then apply liner over top. The cream shadow holds the liner in place.
Ta-DA! That’s IT!! So easy, right? Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Do you wear eyeliner? Why or why not? Any other eyeliner questions I can answer for you? Leave them in the comments!
Nice!!
I just got the Maybelline gel liner yesterday after running out of my very pricey Bobbie Brown gel pot. I am happy to report that it is super similar for a fraction of the price. And waterproof so no smudging!! I need to wear it a few days to give it a thorough review, but you should check it out. I have totally become a gel lover over liquid and pencil!
I will have to try that Jilly! I have only used one brand of gel which shall remain nameless and although I liked the intensity and the staying power, it was always a mess to apply. Maybe I need give it more practice. I will try the Maybelline next!
Great tips! I love eyeliner. I have to wear it everyday or I look tired!!!! Ha! Anyways, I like revlon colorstay the best. But I’ve not tried any new ones in awhile.
Eyeliner scares me. I have yet to master it and am pretty sure I look like a hooker when I attempt to wear it. So…thank you for helping me. Although it would really be best if you’d just come down and do my makeup. I’ll take you to see the Veronica Mars movie if you do…! #bribery #imnotevenkidding #hashtagsinblogcommentsforthewin
Mary! If we are ever fortunate enough to be somewhere together again I would LOVE to do your makeup. And teach you a couple easy things. You are pretty pretty! And I am confident that you can conquer eyeliner.
I love eyeliner! I’m having a harder time with it now that the skin around my eyes is looser. Aah, the joys of aging.
Have you done liquid eyeliner for a cat eye effect? I’ve tried it a few times, but I always end up somehow doing it wrong, and ending up with one side much cattier than the other.
Allison I have just recently mastered it. The CoverGirl Bombshell liners worked for me. I’ve had trouble with some others. I think the fact that these liners are short helps me get a better grip on them for more accuracy. It takes a lot of trial and error, the Cat Eye!
Love it!! Thank you for the advice! <3
Thank you for oozing awesome from your pores!
