Today’s What’s Cookin’ Wednesday is inspired by the Scanpan Professional Nonstick Saute Pan.
Prior to receiving this pan for review, I didn’t own a covered saute pan. In fact, I wasn’t sure how to saute anything! I had to google it. For those of you who are as well versed in cooking as I am, here’s the basic definition (found on cooking.tips.net): Sauteing food is a way of cooking through the use of dry-heat. This means that you use a very, very hot pan and a small amount of fat (or grease) to cook food really quickly. This usually means that the food will be browned, often with a caramelized outer shell.
So, how is this pan different from a skillet? Basically, it’s the design. A saute pan has a wide, flat bottom, which helps distribute the heat evenly. Also, it’s a little deeper than a skillet, which helps keep the food inside while it’s jumping around getting sauted!
This is a skill I have yet to master, I will admit. I am sad about this, because there are really few things I love in life more than sauted onions (yes I know I am a freak). But after doing some research, I think I have discovered my mistakes – apparently you’re supposed to let the pan heat up before adding the oil, then adding the food. Also, it’s important not to put too much in at a time, which I know is part of my problem.
The saute pan is also great for browning, braising, and deglazing. I have a lot of googling in my future because I don’t know how to do any of that.
But now, on to the important things! Here’s how you can win the ScanPan Professional Nonstick Saute Pan:

I’m totally not a cook either, but it helps to have a list of quick meals on hand that everyone likes!
Oooooo! I love to cook! The best tip I can give you is practice, practice, practice! Get a good cookbook, and try a new recipe once or twice a week. When you are comfortable, change it up a little to make it your own. I rarely follow the recipes anymore, except for the general directions. I change up the spices, and the additions. You’ll get the hang of it! Both of my daughters did!

My tip? Always use a little (butter, oil, seasonings). Its easier to add more but you can’t take away.
Wow- apparently after the horrendous dinner I cooked tonight, I could REALLY use some cooking tips!!
About the only real cooking tip I have is to only buy things that are premade and you only have to bake!!
I follow on twitter and tweeted this giveaway! Thanks for all you do!

Clean as you go, and don’t make any recipes where you have to look up more than one item/ word 🙂
It you make anything that has sauce in it, the longer you simmer the better it tastes. I love to cook so I would love to with this.
saute with a little olive oil instead of butter it’s healthier
If you are boiling water don’t watch the water in the pot, because it will never boil.
Nonstick pans are great because you can cook with very little fat and keep things a little heathier. Also, I often double recipes and freeze half, then I have things to pull out on busy days.
I wish I had some great tip to share but I need so much help when it comes to cooking. I will have to read though some of these tips to get help. I would live to try these pans.

My tip is to clean the pan with care so that it doesn’t scratch. The food cook much better.
I clean the pots as soon as I am done cooking. It saves me time later and scrubbing less on the pot is better for the pot.

My BEST cooking tip would be NOT to walk away and leave ANYTHING cooking. I do this way to often and I need to stop. I am hoping that by putting it in print and me reading it will help me STOP!

My best cooking tip is to just keep cooking. Practice makes perfect!
Get all your tools ready before you start cooking. You don’t want to be searching for the right spatula as your burgers are burning!

Start with a clean kitchen. Nothing can slow you down like having to stop to wash your pots, pans or utensils when you need them.
My best cooking tip to start with clean cabinets and keep a hot, soapy sink full of water to clean as you go!!

Actually, my best cooking tip is to have a great nonstick saute pan!!
