Around the 4th of July, I had the fun privilege of being involved in a recipe challenge with Rice Krispies and the Motherhood.com. It was really fun, so when Rice Krispies asked me to participate in their end-of-the-year holiday recipe challenge, I was game! Especially since the campaign also comes with a $100 Visa gift card giveaway to one lucky reader!
Our challenge this time around was to create a holiday Rice Krispies Treats show-stopper recipe. Since I am not the most domestic girl in the world, the “show-stopper” part made me a little nervous. But I am happy to say I came up with a simple recipe that tastes and looks AWESOME! My favorite flavor of the season is peppermint, and I thought Holiday Peppermint Rice Krispies Treats would be fabulous! So I got some cookie cutters, some candy canes, and some Rice Krispies and got creative! Here’s what I came up with:
Holiday Peppermint Rice Krispies Treats
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
2/3 cup crushed candy canes (about 8-10 regular-size candy canes)
10 oz marshmallows
1 can white frosting
Directions:
Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until totally melted. In large mixing bowl, layer marshmallow-butter mixture and Rice Krispies cereal (layering makes it easier to mix.) Stir together until thoroughly mixed. Place candy canes in a resealable plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into a chunky powder. Thoroughly mix 1/3 cup of crushed candy canes into bowl.
With wax paper, press mixture evenly into 13x9x2-inch pan coated with cooking spray or margarine. Cool, then use your favorite cookie cutters to cut into holiday shapes. Decorate with frosting as desired and sprinkle remaining 1/3 cup crushed candy canes on top for decoration.
Enjoy!
Not too toot my own horn, but these turned out AWESOME! They taste terrific and look great too! I took them to a church dinner and they were a big hit!
Thanks to Rice Krispies and the Motherhood.com for allowing me to be a Rice Krispies challenger once again! I hope you all try this recipe at home – you’ll love it!

I love them in peanut butter balls.
I like mine with caramel chips and chocolate drizzled on top.
While I prefer the traditional way of Rice Krispie treats the most….. I also have another rendition we make in our home…
1/2 regular Rice Krispie’s 1/2 Cocoa Krispie’s and make them like normal but afterwards top them off with melted chocolate and let it set till it’s hardened on top of them 😀 YUMMM!

Usually I like them dipped in chocolate but I’d really like to try this recipe next time I make them!
I like them the good old fashioned way! 🙂 But you can never go wrong adding peanut butter or chocolate to anything!
I love my treats with drizzled chocolate!!
I like my rice krispies with peanut butter and crushed almonds. This Christmas, I will be attempting something more creative – a colossal candy cane – I found the recipe here: http://www.ricekrispies.com/recipes/colossal-candy-canes.aspx#/recipes/colossal-candy-canes

I just eat them normal, but I’m going to start adding things!
I like them almost any way, as long as they are a little gooey – and chocolate never hurts
I love them as rice krispie treats with a nice hot cup of hot cocoa!!!
I like Rice Krispies Treats with melted chocolate and chopped nuts.
I like to have my Rice Krispie treats with chocolate chips!
Sometimes my daughter likes to make almond bark treats with Rice Krispies in them… very delicious.
I like the original, almost. I add chocolate and walnuts
I like the traditional treats!
I like mine drizzled with the best chocolate I can afford. It tastes sooo good!
We aren’t very creative, and just make the standard rice krispie treats, although sometimes we add sprinkles.
Very lovely! I didn’t know there was so many great ideas to incorporate rice krispies into awesome creations until i saw some of the neat ways the bloggers used them. I normally just drizzle chocolate over my rice krispie treats.
Merry Christmas!
My son loves them with M&Ms mixed in.
I like original Rice Krispie Treats the best; however, I would never turn away from Rice Krispie Treats made with chocolate, peanut butter, or caramel 🙂
I love peppermint, also, but I think I’d rather eat them separately. I’m really impressed with your festive creations, tho.
Welcome to precious baby Jonah! What a wonderful Christmas present.
Blessings to you and your family for the coming year.
Thanks for the giveaway.
