Both times I was pregnant, I researched a number of things… ok, who am I kidding, pretty much everything in the world related to pregnancy and infants. But I put a notable amount of time into figuring out which car seat and stroller to buy. The first time around, with Kate, I was trying to go the, uh, economical route. You know what happens when you buy the cheapest car seats available? You end up buying six million different seats before the kid is finally old enough to drive and/or sit in a vehicle without a safety apparatus. Kate had the infant seat, then the convertible seat (one for each car, of course)… then she hit the height and or weight limit for those before she was old enough to go into a booster, so I had to buy another set of bigger kid car seats… then we bought booster seats… then we finally bought backless boosters.
As you can see, my frugality didn’t exactly save me any money.
Had I known then what I know now, I would have bought exactly two models – the infant carrier and then the Recaro ProSport.
Before Jenny and I were asked to do a review/giveaway for this car seat, I had honestly never heard of Recaro. It’s not a name I’ve ever seen on a baby registry. But, after looking into it a little more, I learned that the company has actually been around for more than 100 years, and during that time has been involved in creating seats in VW Beetles, BMWs, and Porsches. More recently, they’ve applied the technology and science behind the seats they put into luxury cars and race cars to children’s car seats. Recaro’s car seat line includes convertibles, boosters, and the seat Jenny and I had a chance to try out – the ProSport, which is a combination harness to booster seat. The safety features on their seats are unbelievable – here’s how they are described on their website:
• Side Impact Protection – RECARO’s Side Impact Protection is designed to distinctly protect 5 vulnerable areas of a child in a side impact collision – their head, neck, face, torso and pelvis.
• EPS Foam? – Expanded Polystyrene “EPS” foam absorbs crash force energy through the ProSPORT for added protection.
• ErgoShell Structure? – The ProSPORT’s ergonomic shell is designed to offer child occupants the comfort qualities RECARO seats are known for throughout the world.
In addition to the safety features, the Recaro ProSport has a number of extras that make life easier on the parents. The EasyGuide Belt Guides are color coded so you can easily identify the proper belt path and positioning of either the LATCH strap or vehicle seat belt. Also, the EasyAdjust 5-point makes it easy to change the height of the shoulder straps so you don’t have to take the thing apart and re-thread the straps through the back as your child grows. AND, it’s got a push-button LATCH system, which makes me so happy I can’t even tell you. I always have the hardest time getting the clip ones removed from our car. This makes it a snap (even when my husband puts the seat in impossibly tight!).
Of course, they want the kids to love it too. The seat’s ergonomic shell makes it super comfortable, and there is a lot of comfy cushioning in the seat. And get this – there’s built in storage designed to hold snacks, drinks, and electronic devices.
Beyond all that, perhaps the absolute best thing about this car seat is that it eliminates the need to buy another seat ever. Essentially, it will take your child from an infant seat to the driver’s seat.
I am serious! The ProSport is made for kids 20-120 pounds. My husband could have ridden in it to be dropped off at college. The height range is from 27 to 59 inches. My daughter is a seriously tall seven year old, but she’s still got a long way to go before she hits 59 inches!
I also wanted to mention how much I like the wings on the side of the seat, where the kid’s head goes. The primary purpose, of course, is to protect the child’s head in a side-impact crash, but it is also prevents the dreaded head flop when they fall asleep!
Ok, enough rambling from me… let’s get to the important part – how you can win a Recaro seat of your own!

I’d love to check this seat out-I’ve always heard they are the best! And my son is tall, at 100% for his age, so I think we will be needing it! taylortasha at msn dot com

Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to check this one out for my littlest guy, he is a pretty big guy and it would be nice to have one that grows with him!! We have the tall boosters for our older boys and they are fabulous!! Thanks for making me laugh and smile on a daily basis!! 🙂
I follow you on FB!! 🙂
I am looking for a car seat for my 4 month old! I am obessed with checking out the new car seats. This one sounds great, I would love to have it!
I’ve got friends who are struggling with car seats and watching the battle, I kid not, makes me reconsider the whole prospect of having kids. I’m confident natural instinct will get me through the sleepless nights and diapers, but I’m not sure I can survive the the stroller struggles, car seat battles, and equipment failures. Letting me try this out on baby Eleanor, and having it work, would be one less thing for me to worry about when considering future kids!
I like the no rethreading harness. I could change it myself and not have to ask my husband to do it. Awesome!

I would love to check out this car seat! My 1 year old is about ready to move up and I really really hate the car seat my 2 1/2 yr. old is in. Would love to win this!

I NEED a new car seat 🙂 would love to try this one out

We need a second carseat and this one sounds great! We have a Britax and love it but my husband absolutely hates taking it in and out. This one sounds so much easier. I wonder why I’ve never heard of it?
We’re looking for a seat for our second car, and this looks like it would last our little guy a long time!
I have a grandson who is about ready to come out of his infant car seat and transition to a bigger seat that he’ll use for several years to come. I’m struggling to come up with the money to buy one for him so we’re going to be back to moving seats between cars for the two younger boys and hope that the right one has the correct seats should the need arise to pick up the kids early or make an unexpected trip out. If the seats are not in the right place then that delays picking up the kids or getting where we need to go as we have to run out and gather the seats first. Adding the Recare ProSport would insure that we have the right seats in the right spot when they are needed.
I’d love to put my youngest in one of these! He’s in my oldest’s old seat, and I’d love to give him his own!
I like y’all on FB!
I would love to try this carseat! I have a toddler who is about to move up to this type of seat and it looks super comfortable. We are in need of one since the other one is pink and my daughter, who is now 7, still has to sit in the booster part of it! Thanks for your consideration!! I will “like” you on Facebook as well!
My little guy is a few pounds away from his current car seat so I’m needing to find a replacement. I love that they have the EPS foam and the side impact protection. I want the safest seat for my boy!

Thanks for the chance! Crossing my fingers!
I would love this carseat. I have 6 mo twin boys, and I just bought this exact seat with a deal that I found online… but have to wait to buy another one for the other kiddo (we are trying to stick within our budget, but having twins makes it hard!) I need another one! Please please please let me win!
I would love to check this out because I am currently preggo with my first and overwhelmed by the number of decisions I need to make for the most simple-sounding baby necessities!
I like you on Facebook.
I would love to win this because I am currently pregnant (about to give birth any day) and have a 2 year old son who has a nice car seat but nothing anywhere near as nice as this. I have been researching seats a lot recently and have become aware of how safe and well made the Recaro brand are.

I would LOVE the chance to check out the Ricaro car seat. I just became a mom 3 1/2 weeks ago and have quickly discovered how much I have to learn about all the gadgets that go along with babies. Each day I find something new that I find a way to decide is necessary. I already started a habit of letting her sleep in our king size bed, so today I purchased a crib mirror and mobile to try to lure her into enjoying her crib. We made it 20 minutes in there today during nap time before mommy gave in and got Josephine back out. I have a Chicco infant car seat but am looking for the next size I will need for my growing girl. Please pick me to try it out for you!! Thanks 🙂

I’d love to check this seat out because I’ve heard great things about these seats and they look like they would be incredibly comfortable. Also, my husband loves the Recaro seats in his car so I know Recaro makes good products.

I would love to win this car seat, so that I could gift it to my sister for her beautiful baby, Josie. I would be the BEST Aunt ever!!
And I liked you on Facebook….pick me! 🙂
This seat looks AMAZING! I have always been so envious of those seats that have the MAJOR head protection like this seat does. And to know my son could fit into all the way until he is allowed to sit in a regular seat in the car (which I am not sure i will EVER allow with so many crazy drivers these days), I know this seat will last all the way until then. Thanks for the chance, we are in desperate need of a seat for him since he is VERY VERY VERY close to outgrowing his current one!

I would like to check out a Recaro Carseat because I have eleven grandchildren and one greatgrandson. I babysit alot. The carseats I have are safe, but I know this brand new car seat would be safer.

I totally need this- it’s time to move the new baby out of his infant carrier and into a real car seat! I’ve heard good things about Recaro- especially from travel bloggers.
Of course, I like you on facebook.
I would love this carseat because I’m 8 months pregnant with a little boy! Although this is our second child, all of our original babygear is pink with flowers and hearts and princesses, etc. And we made the same mistake as Emily – not buying a carseat that grew with our daughter. We won’t make that mistake again!
