An at-last accomplishment and a $75 giveaway!

There are a lot of things I want to do that I say I’ll do “when I get around to it.”  Or, “when I have the money.”  Or how about my favorite, “When I have the time.”  The reality is that only a small percentage of these things will ever get done.  But there are a few things in life I’ve managed to actually take the time to accomplish that were totally worth it.  Time+ effort paid off!  A perfect example of this is the “fun room” that I posted about a year ago.  We lived in our house TEN YEARS before we ever turned our useless, waste-of-space mud room into a beautiful, functional art room for the kids.  Not only did it take a long time for us to finally DO IT, but it took a lot of time to physically accomplish the transformation – researching and finding the appropriate furniture, cleaning the room, painting the room, arranging all the kids things in an organized manner, and of course, the 50 bajillion coats of chalkboard paint and dry erase paint Bobby had to put on the opposite sides of our door in that room!

But all that hard work and time we invested totally paid off!  In the year since we accomplished this big task, we’ve made so many good memories in that room!  Like this one:

Joshua, Sophie and I were making a Jack O’Lantern craft in October.  We’ve spent so much time making things together in this room.  This is also where Sophie and I did all of our work together to help her overcome her developemental delays. As a matter of fact, we still often call it the “Mommy-Sophie time room” even though it’s for everyone, because Sophie and I spent SO much time there accomplishing THAT big achievement!

  2. Spending 3 days of my life purging, cleaning and organizing our garage which had become a dumping ground! I felt defeated every time I went int there….which couldn’t be avoided because my washer & dryer are in there! Now I love it and it is amazing how much better I feel now every time I do laundry. I’m motivated to really get the whole house it shape now!

  5. Something worth taking the time to accomplish is cleaning my car every week. Haha!!! You probably think I’m kidding – how did kids get so destructive? 😉

  8. Running a marathon. It was the hardest thing I ever did, and coming right on the heels of the last few months of my mom’s life made it even more emotional. I cried throughout it, and I cried after it, but I have never felt more accomplished in my life.

  11. My biggest accomplishment has been my college degrees. A lot of money and time was spent during those years!

  14. I have to agree with someone towards the top. Cleaning my garage was worth it so I had room to park inside this winter. We didnt get much snow but I love not having to clean off my windows

  15. Spending time learning Spanish would be more of an important accomplishment for me because here in Miami people are bilingual and generally it is more desirable for a company to hire those who know a second language and here it appears to be NO EXCEPTION given that the competition is fierce.

  17. I waited until fate would have it before I went to college. I was 33 years old when I went back to school and studied Computer Information Systems with a concentration in programming. Shortly after graduation I started working for an Income Tax Software development company. Slowly I worked my way from Software Support to Software Programming and quickly discovered that I hated programming!! I spent one year working as a member of the Software Development Team and realized quickly that while my college education was in programming, my life’s forte was in Customer Service. I am now a Customer Relationship Manager where my duties include managing our large customer accounts and assisting customers with issues that need upper level management to satisfy.

  18. To finish off my final project to get my MS in Engineering. I was just extending it semester after semester until a point came, I could not extend anymore. I had to finish it and I did!
