So, I have this friend. She’s a bloggy friend that I met via Twitter, but I have now met her in real life TWICE (at both BlissDom ’08 and ’09) and I big-puffy-HEART her! Her name? Amy in Ohio.
Amy is flippin’ hilarious, and smart, and lots of other wonderful things, plus she has great hair (which I enjoy)! You know what else I enjoyed? Following her on Twitter, and reading her super-funny tweets, many of which were aimed at someone hooking her up with a free Blackberry (which no one ever did and that is a CRYING SHAME, I tell you!!)
I say “enjoyed” following Amy, because about a month ago, I discovered I was NOT following her any longer. Somehow, I “unfollowed” her without actually doing so myself. In other words, Twitter magically decided I should no longer be following @AmyinOhio. And no matter how many times I click the “follow” button on her profile page, it WON’T WORK!! GRRR! Jenny ANGRY.
Though Amy and I have both annoyed Twitter by tweeting to them excessively about this problem, they haven’t fixed it yet. So, until then, Amy and I (or Amyeo and Jenniet as I like to call us) are just going to have to connect in other ways. Last week we became Facebook friends and we are going to a Dayton-Cincy bloggy meet-up this weekend with Emily & some other awesome people (you know who you are! HOLLA!) But I was thinking another great way would be for us to start a blog together! I’ve already got a great blog name and header design:
Whaddya think?? I think it’s a winner!
As I was writing this post, I received more terrible Twitter news: I have also “magically” unfollowed my friend Dawn. That’s right, Twitter is trying to keep me and my elevator angel, Dawn apart. What the heck Twitter? Am I going to have to get stuck in an elevator at BlogHer with this girl to make up for lost Twitter-time?? This is strike TWO! If you try to keep Emily and I apart I will have no choice but to call in my mob connections and have somebody whacked. So, please, please don’t make me ask again! Hook me back up with @kaiseralex and @AmyinOhio STAT!
What once might have been a fluke, is now clearly a conspiracy.
People, check your followees – you might too be a victim of this rampant (yes I said rampant) viciousness at the hands of the cruel Twitter-gods.
We must stand together or surely we will tweet apart.
You’re kidding! Twitter can do that?! There are quite a few of my friends who I haven’t heard from on Twitter in ages, and I assumed they stopped tweeting. Now you’ve got me wondering if I’m just not following them any more!
Can’t wait to see your new blog. 🙂
Twitter sometimes “eats” posts that I should see but don’t unless I directly click on someone’s name and then I will see that they have responded to me.
Hi,
@mommyaulait here. I’m so glad I read this. This has happened to me. A LOT! Now I know I’m a little abrasive and lewd at times. People unfollow me and out right block me. That’s cool, I understand it. But I’ve become friends with some people who all of a sudden can’t DM me and I appear blocked to them. NOT THE CASE. What was originally my own little bit of tin-hat paranoia is now being struck down. Thank you for blogging about this and keep us updated. Thanks.
Twitter does this to me CONSTANTLY. And it is usually the people I really know and really like. I can think of 5 people who Twitter unfollowed from me (and me from them) who it will not allow to re-follow me (although I can refollow them some times). Twitter hates me.
Well, that’s just wrong. I’m not sure about this Twitter thing…
LMAO!!!
I’m so glad that Twitter hasn’t totally deleted you off my follow list. I’ll be at Blogher in July, I’m rooming with Amy & Shannan, I’m totally looking forward to meeting you and hoping that there are no elevator malfunctions in chicago. LOL
That is just plain wrong. I am now wondering if I have unfollowed people I don’t know about. I hope you are hooked back up soon!
love the new blog idea!
as for twitter — what’s going on there???
Okay, I love the new blog header. We’ll find some place between you and me to stage a … coo? koo? coup? koo koo kachoo?
This is Angie in OH (I met you at the awesome Ohio Girls Dinner Out at Blissdom09.) I just read about this Amy’s blog. Can’t even imagine how frustrating this must be…it completely sucks!
Twitter is usually pretty awesome and then sometimes it can just be annoying.
I’ve noticed that it will still show me as following someone, but I don’t get any of their updates. WTF……..frustrating!
