Well, it’s a good thing there weren’t too many hot deals at CVS this week, or I might’ve gone through withdrawal while in California! Fortunately, I got the best deal before I left town! Here is a funny transaction: A blood glucose meter and enough Mountain Dew to give me diabetes so I might actually have to use it!
The Contour meter was on sale for $14.99 and gave back $14.99 ECBs. The Dew was on sale 4/$12 and gave back 3 ECBs. Now as some of you may know, I have a great addiction to love of Mountain Dew. So this was a very fun deal for me! My total was $26.99. I used the CVS $5/$15 coupon and the up to $30 off Contour meter coupon. The manager told me the Mountain Dew deal was snot working so he gave me an additional $3 off my order since I would not be getting back any ECBs for it! This threw me off, because my total was $4.22 and I was going to use a $5 ECB to pay – it was the smallest I had. So I threw on a couple of candy bars (which will also give me diabetes) which brought me to $4.96 before tax. The cashier adjusted my ECB to $4.96, so I paid ZERO out of pocket and got back $14.99 ECB for the monitor! Oot Oot! (By the way, since I do not yet have diabetes, I donate these monitors to our local non-profit hospice. Just so ya know. I do not hoard blood glucose monitors.)
I also “blew” a bunch of ECBs this week on a new planner, some dry erase markers, and some milk. I love getting all this stuff for just a few cents out-of-pocket!
Since I exhausted CVS early in the week, I moved on to Rite Aid. I hadn’t done any Rite Aid Single Check Rebates in a while but this was a good week for them! I got all this for $6.33 out-of-pocket and will get back $10.47 in rebates! Yeeee-ha! That’s real cash money baby!
The Glade PlugIns were BOGO Free at $4.79 and I had two $3 off coupons, so they paid me $1.21 to buy those. I used the overage to make the other items cheaper – they were all free after rebate and I had $1 off coupons for both the toothpastes and a $2 off coupon for the hairspray. I can’t wait to get that check back!
Well, that’s all for me this week since I was out of town for half of it! For more great Super Savings Saturday tales, visit Money Saving Mom!
I’m off to Target… dr pepper is on sale $3 for a 12 pack… not a particulary good deal until you get a $5 gift card back!
and, it’s not free, but that’s ok. cheap enough for me to stock up until they say I can’t have anymore.
I’ll be in down NEXT WEEKEND… want to go CVS’n?
Oh my gosh! The juxtaposition of the mountain dew with the diabetes tester is PRICELESS!!!
“I do not yet have diabetes” LOL! That cracked me up! As a former Mtn Dew addict, I’m totally salivating at that picture.
Great job on the savings this week! 🙂
got back from CVS and got $73 of merchandise for $10.60. I would have gotten it for FREE if the old hag at the register would have taken my $10 off of $50 coupon but she refused to do so.
Ok. This might sound dumb but what is an ECB?
Too funny about the Mountain Dew and the glucose meter!
I bet your kids – esp your baby – are so happy to have you home.
It was great getting to meet you – the whole trip was just so fantastic. A total dream trip!!!
“snot” working?
I got funny looks here at my house when I burst out giggling at your mountain dew picture 🙂
