I Love Carter’s. Especially when there’s a sale!

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Carter’s. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.

MCC Carter's Friends & Family Coupon

Oh, HAI! It’s like, 2.2 seconds before Christmas! If you’re like me, you’re *almost* done with your shopping. As I have mentioned, in our house we give the kids four gifts: Something you want, Something you need, Something to WEAR, and Something to read.

A couple days ago I realized that I had gotten the kids ALL THE THINGS – except one – I forgot to get Jonah, my poor neglected third child, something to wear! So when Mom Central informed me of a shopping review opportunity with Carter’s, I was all, “Pick me! Pick me!” Because, as I’ve written before, I am a total Carter’s snob when my kids are little. What better place to purchase Jonah’s “Something to Wear”?

Now is the time for you to run out to the Carter’s store and finish up your last-minute shopping, too, or simply stock up on some things the kids need. Today through December 24th, you’ll save 25% off your ENTIRE purchase when you shop at Carter’s and use the above coupon! Woohoo!

I had lots of fun shopping for Jonah and I got him quite a few “somethings to wear” – 2 multi-packs of socks, three pairs of warm pants, and two shirts -plus, a 2-pack of leggings for Sophie and an adorable tunic she can wear to our family Christmas this weekend and for Valentine’s Day too (and, anytime in between)!

Here’s Sophie modeling her new outfit. Carter’s carries sizes newborn – 7, and Sophie’s in a 7 now…I am so sad she is about to outgrow being a Carter’s girl, so I am glad I found her some cute things!

I love the detail on the tunic!

I had a v-e-r-y hard time getting Jonah to be STILL for a photo, so forgive this photo, but isn’t this outfit the cutest? I am so happy he is a few more years to be a Carter’s cutie!

I was really looking for pants for Jonah to wear for preschool that were a) very warm and snuggly and b) super-easy for him to pull up and down to go to the potty – of course I found several pair! Here’s everything I got, sans the outfit Sophie was wearing:

I paid a grand total of $70 for all of this plus Sophie’s tunic and leggings that aren’t pictured. That’s a fantastic deal! I purchased 10 items total. You guys know I love a deal, so I was stoked!

I really enjoyed my shopping trip to the Carter’s store. Jonah enjoyed the little play area, there was a great selection of clothing, the prices were fantastic, and the store employees were friendly and helpful!

Grab your 25% Friends & Family sale coupon and get thee to a Carter’s store! Then…come back here and leave me a comment and let me know what kind of deals you scored!

Are your kids Carter’s babies? What are your favorite Carter’s items?

Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-laundry safety!

SONY DSC

I’ll be honest, during all the added holiday hustle and bustle – getting birthday parties planned and carried off, holiday shopping and kids’ Christmas programs rehearsed and performed, work Christmas parties, and this year a rehearsal dinner and wedding as well – my day-to-day tasks get shoved to the wayside. Dishes get washed when we need utensils and laundry gets done when we’re out of towels or school uniforms. Often times I’m moving from event to event so quickly I barely know my own name. And in the house, I’m moving from room to room as fast as I can and sometimes I leave a tornado-like path in my wake.

One of the things I have to make a real conscious effort not to leave in my wake is home safety. For instance, we have hardwood floors, and if I’m not careful about getting Jonah’s toys picked up, or having the big kids pick up their toys, someone could easily go skating on a Lego or a Hot Wheel and really get hurt. So when I leave my tornado mess behind, I try to at the very least create a safe walkway in the midst of it!

Another area that’s easy to let slip is laundry safety. As I mentioned, during the holidays it’s often a scramble to get laundry done (and all the special laundry! Holiday dresses and dress shirts, a class t-shirt for a holiday field trip – oy!) and it’s easy to get in a rush and leave supplies out instead of stored up high and out of the kids’ reach. But in the case of laundry supplies in general and single-load liquid laundry packets in particular, it’s always important to keep them stored safely no matter what time of year. Because these are not products children should handle, ever.  In fact, serious harm & injury including accidental ingestion and eye exposure can occur if single-load liquid laundry packets are not safely stored and children get their hands on them.  Luckily, accidents such as these are ENTIRELY preventable.

That’s why during this rush of holidaypalooza, it’s more important than ever to take the KEY Pledge for a safe laundry room and routine. In my case, I took the pledge months ago but during this season of busy-ness, the KEY Pledge and I are renewing our vows. 🙂 A nice thing about taking the KEY Pledge is that it’s simple and quick to do! It’s an important step that won’t add any stress to your busy holiday “to do” list. All you have to do is head over to the American Cleaning Institute’s KEY Pledge website and take the KEY Pledge:

  • Keep single-load liquid laundry packets out of the reach of children
  • Educate your family and friends about the safe use and storage of these new laundry products
  • You serve a key role in laundry safety

It’s so easy yet so important to take the KEY pledge for a safe laundry room & routine! And remember if you do, you’ll be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $2,500 grand prize to help makeover your laundry room! Woot! The sweepstakes ends on 12/31, so make sure you head over to Keypledge.com ASAP for a chance to enter and win.

Lastly, head over to Keypledge.com and watch the ACI’s laundry safety video series, which is a MUST see for parents and caregivers.  It features child safety expert, Kimberlee Mitchell offering her tips on laundry safety and the small steps you can take to protect your family.

Don’t let the rush of the holidays cause you to forget keeping things safe at home. Take some time to relax, enjoy this season of giving, and remember your KEY Pledge!

How do you feel about the holidays? Are they your favorite time of the year, or are you relieved to ring in the New Year when they’re over? For me, I think it’s really both!

My baby. Is. THREE.

Jonah at 3

Dear Jonah,

Happy birthday! Today you are three. How did this happen? I can’t say your *entire* life has flown by, but this past year sure has. I think part of me expected you to stay two forever. But that’s not the way it works!

You had a BIG year. You saw the ocean for the first time.

Yay ocean! #latergram #obx #killdevilhills #ilovehim

You started speech therapy and you figured out how to play/work/learn all at the same time. I’m so proud of all the progress you’ve made!

You figured out a lot of big kid things this year like using utensils, drinking from an open cup, and even – astonishingly – using the potty! Your mama is, quite frankly, impressed!

You developed a love of taking selfies. A chip off the ol’ block!

And you totally rocked your first “big kid” trick-or-treat!

Your big love for your big brother has deepened, so sweetly.

And you even throw Sophie a bone once in a while:

I am a little nervous about you starting school in a couple weeks,  but with the way you’ve been conquering challenges left and right, I am hopeful that you will LOVE it and really blossom, my sweet boy!

I love you, Jonah-jo! I am so proud of you, and so glad that God chose me to be your mommy.
