Lopsided

I am having two distinct problems on different sides of my body.

(This is why I often refer to myself as functionally retarded.)

Little baby Jonah has decided that he only wants to eat off of my left side when nursing. About once a day I can con him into eating pretty well off my right, but that is not going to cut it!  I don’t want to be grotesquely lopsided, and I don’t want my right side to dry up!!

To complicate this matter, my left thumb injury (which makes my whole left arm hurt) is pretty painful at the moment and since Jonah ONLY wants to eat off the left side…it’s not as easy to “rest” my left arm (which is a joke anyways, I mean really, I kind of need both hands and arms at this point in my life.)

So.  When my left arm withers up and my right breast dries up…I am going to be one lopsided- looking mother!

I want to go on “Extreme Makeover: ‘I’m just Jacked Up’ edition”.

But seriously, how do I solve this nursing problem?  I swear I’ve got the same flavor coming out of both sides!!  Any advice??

Review: Philips AVENT Double Electric Breast Pump

Now that Jonah is eight weeks old, I figured I’d better see if he will take a bottle so I can leave the house without him once in awhile!  I had a double-electric breast pump with that I used with both of my other kids, but since you know, I thought I was DONE (how many times can I say that!? Whoops!), I gave it away.  So I was *thrilled* when Philips AVENT offered me one of theirs to review.  My old one was a different brand, but the manual single pump I also used with both kids was an AVENT and I loved it.

I was a little overwhelmed when I opened the pump, because it looked like there was a lot to it.  However, there was a quick set-up card in the package that showed me exactly what to put where, and it was as easy as pie.  Not to mention, it comes in a beautiful briefcase, and two very nice quality coolers with thinsulate to keep your pumped milk cool.

Once I got everything hooked up, it was time to pump!  After all, that’s what really matters, right?  Well, I was very happy with the way this pump allowed me to express my milk.  I don’t understand the technology, but the pump allowed me to choose the pace at which my milk was expressed – there was no dial, no levels to choose from – just the action of my hand on the pump and the touch of a button.  The pump then mimicked the rhythm I had chosen – it was amazing!

The pump did a great job, expressing my milk quickly (and much more comfortably than my old pump) so I could get on with my life.

I’ve gotta say, I think the pump did a great job and I’m thrilled to own it.  I know I’ll use it a lot over the next couple of years (?) while I nurse Jonah.

______________

Philips AVENT provided me with a pump to review and keep.  My opinions on the product are all my own.

Say WHAT!?

The other night my husband and I were talking about his insurance plan that we have through his employer.  The human resources pro at his work is named Kim, so and we were talking about how she had helped him with some insurance stuff pertaining to Jonah’s birth.

Then my husband says, “Kim is coming over to hang out with me tonight after you and the kids go to bed.”

ME:”Um..WHAT?”

HIM: “Kim is going to hang out with me tonight.”

ME: “No she’s not!”

HIM: “She? I said KEN. KEN is coming over to hang out with me tonight.”

Me: “Ohhhhh KEN ha ha ha ha ha!”

Ken is one of hubby’ best friends.  He only lives a few blocks away, and they often hang out after their wives and children have gone to bed.

Hubby does NOT hang out with women he works with after I go to bed!

Just goes to show you how easily things can get out of hand when someone says ONE thing and you HEAR another!

The makers of Alka-Seltzer and my friends at the Motherhood.com asked me to post on this subject (how did they know I’d have a story?  How?) because Alka-Seltzer has a great Said/Heard Mishaps Contest going on over at their Facebook page and you could win big by telling your Said/Heard Mishaps story!  DO you have a funny story to tell?  I’d love to hear it in the comments!  Or you can go over to Alka-Seltzer’s Facebook page and tell them for a chance to win!
