***Updated with photo of mah HAIR***

So, Saturday was my day. The sun shone, it was like seventy-freaking-degrees, and I got to go shopping by mah-self. First I hit CVS and Walgreens and got some sweet deals, and then, I went to Target to get THIS beauty (on the advice of my friend Laurin – thank you girl!):

It is the Remington Emi Airwave Dryer, a.k.a the COOLEST FLIPPIN’ HAIR DRYER EVER!! It dries your hair and curls it at the same time. Amazing.

Laurin wrote a great review of this hair dryer, (read the full review here and see a video of her demonstrating it on her local news here) so I’ll quote her:

After reading the directions, I got started on what I figured would be another shameful chapter in my hair saga. See the attachment tube? I separated a section of hair at a time, turned on the dryer, and dropped the ends of the hair sections into the tube. A vortex of air sucks the hair in and spins it round and round, drying it from the roots to the ends into a perfect curl.

When all of the sections of my hair were dry a mere eight minutes later, it looked like I had smooth dreadlocks, a look I hadn’t really considered at this stage of my life. After letting my curls set for a minute or two, I finger-combed each section apart and checked myself out in the mirror. Holy hairnet! My hair looked amazing. The curls were perfect and I looked like I had just come from the salon. Shower to done in about 10 minutes, with an actual hairstyle. Life changing!

Ok, it’s me again. Doooodes, I totally got this hair dryer this weekend at Target, and it RAWKS! It worked perfectly. My hair used to be stick straight, then I had little miss Sophie and somehow it got wavy. Only it’s mostly just really wavy in the back, kinda wavy on the sides, and straight in the front. NOT COOL. It now takes me forever to style and I pretty much always hate the way it looks. But with the Remington Emi, it only took me about 10 minutes and my hair was dry and styled, and very, very wavy. And it stayed wavy all day long. As a matter of fact, I think I might even be able to get a second day out of this hairstyle. Since it usually takes me about 15 minutes just to get my hair DRY (I have tons of hair, people, I’m serious), this is a major, major exciting hair breakthrough for me. Thanks to Laurin for this great discovery!

And now, since the readers demanded it, a photo of my Emi-styled hair (and yes I am getting my brows waxed again next week so SHADDUP):

My other super-awesome retail coup this weekend came from Sears. I was moseying through the store when I saw that the Lands’ End shop was having 70% off clearance. 70%!?! Just that morning I had been looking online at Lands’ End Overstocks because I really wanted to get a nice winter coat for next season and thought I’d buy while they were on sale. So imagine my joy when I found this Weatherly jacket (in admiral blue) in the Lands’ End shop for just $11.99 on clearance and this Angel Down full-length coat for only $26.99 on clearance! I am now the proud owner of both, and my grand total with tax was only $41.71. Wooohoo! I am going to be very cute and very warm next fall and winter!

Great weather, great bargains and great hair…put a little pep in my step!

So, what exciting things did YOU do this weekend?

  1. Woot! Yeah I want to see the hair, too. 😉

I went to Goodwill yesterday with my oldest daughter and got a cute monogrammed tote bag for the beach with our last name initial, a pair of Ralph Lauren twill shorts in pink, a cute dressy pink t-shirt, and an Old Navy khaki skirt for right at $20!!!!

  2. My work here is done!

Seriously, greatest hair appliance ever and I’m glad it worked for you, too. That would have been a little embarassing for me if it didn’t after all my hopping up and down about it, huh?

  3. I hit the clearance racks at Old Navy and got a boatload for $90.

We also had to clean out our dryer vent, patch a spot on the roof (thanks to wild march winds) and replace our toilet – that was really fun. 😉

  4. I want to see pictures too, but I totally believe you without the pictures, because that’s just the kind of bloggy friend that I am. I may be heading to Target to pick me up a new dryer in the near future. How much was this SUPER AWESOME dryer at Target?

  5. Why thank you Greis. It is regularly only $24.99 at Target! I got it on sale for $22.99 on Saturday. It’s worth every penny!!

  6. I didn’t do these things during the weekend, but during last week.

You have to hit Gabe’s! At least the one up here had womens clearance for 50% off. I got a great shirt for FIFTY CENTS, another sweater for FIFTY CENTS, two other sweaters for $1.50! And, I got matching shoes for TWO DOLLARS!

I also hit the 90% off racks at Kohl’s… Faith is set for next summer with cords and sweaters.

AND… I searched through a $3 rack @ WalMart and found stuff marked $.300 instead of $3.00. I got stuff for THIRTY CENTS! It rang up $3 but I pointed out the price tag and they actually honored it (surprised the heck out of me!).

Needless to say I was reorganizing closets and dressers to make room for my new finds.

  7. Ok- I am TOTALLY going and buying that! I would never have without that demonstration- so thank you Laurin!

  8. You look beautiful! Remington needs to make you their spokesmodel. I can be your agent.

Whatever will you do with all your extra time you’re saving styling your hair??

  9. Hunh. I really would NOT have believed this. But you put up that picture, and at least until now you have been completely trustworthy, so…I guess I have to believe!

Your hair (and you) looks great, and I definitely need this dryer! I have a LOT of semi-wavy/semi-curly/so heavy it ends up mostly straight hair. And I’m notorious for NOT getting it dry in the morning (who has that much time?). So this might work…and it’s not even that expensive!

    Thanks for the info!!

  10. That hair dryer seems to work great. I never would have guessed looking at it. I’m sure my hair is too short for it to work right though.

  11. Hmm, this looks amazing. I wonder if it works on straight hair. I mean, really straight! Is Target the only place to sell it? I’m trying to see if I can buy it anywhere in Canada but no luck so far 🙁

  12. Your hair looks fabulous. YOU look fabulous!!!

My super score was also a Lands’ End clearance item at sears. A corduroy bedspread for KT’s bed for $15. Normally $199! Ch-ching!

Miss you guys!! When you coming to visit?

  13. Ok, I have the same post-kiddos hair issues; I have to roll mine straight so I don’t look like a victim of a perm gone bad that’s almost grown out.

And my hair is uber-thick, too.

Gonna hit my *NEW* Target and see if I can score one of these on a dealio!

    Your hair looks loverly!

  14. Ugh. I ran right out and snagged one up because for 34 years I’ve had thick straight hair. Don’t think I did it right, though. It looked horrible! Maybe I took too small of sections or something?

Who knows, but my husband had a good laugh!

  15. Was a Target last night and purchased the Emi. I had my doubts but after seeing your pics, I decided to try it. I have very fine hair and it is very STRAIGHT hair. Tried it this morning and when I was done, I had a tangled mess. But I waited a few minutes before I ran my fingers through. Once I did, it really didn’t look that bad! So I am not giving up and with some practice, I think this just might work! Besides, I need to start using some of my hair care stash from CVS.

  16. I have used this item on my neice & daughter who is afro american with long curly hair that hangs to the middle of their back when straighten. this tool has given them straighter hair & body.
