I LOVE THIS BLOG!!! I love your sense of humor and the way you tell stories. It is very entertaining and relevent to my life. I have a 2 year old who is in dance for the first time. Recital is a couple days away and rehersal was eye opening!! When the moms are wheeling garment racks of costumes (at 50 bucks or so each ahhh!!!) Hair and makeup for a 2 year old. It’s crazy

OK so now that I am crying from laughing soooo hard!! At least you now know what to stay away from and I will give a piece of advise for when you guys have the invitationals, which in the past have been held at Germantown, you will need to have a tent set up and a larger cooler and LOTS of sunscreen…you start at 8am and don’t finish sometimes until dark! Talk about an all day event! I liked to do the time keeping…much better then clerk of course!

I FEAR my kids being in sports. I am lazy and I don’t want to put in the effort required for them to participate but I want them to be able to do it so I know I will just have to suck it up and learn to live out of my car.

I cannot believe they have swim team for kids that young with all that rigamarole. Pretty sure that isn’t how you spell that made up word. I am way too much of a slacker parent to deal with all that

For the last five years I have been involved in a preschool co-op, where I have not only been employed, but also a parent of a student. Like your swim club, if it wasn’t for the parents volunteering in the school, it would cease to exist.

It was difficult to be an employee and a parent; I wore many hats. I was on the board with a parent position and a staff position. If I wasn’t working, I was volunteering.

But being so involved with my girls’ education was absolutely priceless.

You sound like one of the mom’s that I babysit for. LOL

Her 8 y.o. daughter is doing swim team for the first time as well. Her biggest gripe is that she had no idea how time consuming it was going to be. Their meets are on Saturday mornings and the Texas heat makes it a LONG day. She has a 5 & a 3 year old that she must look after as well. She’s at the pool from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., but her daughter loves it so she tries not to complain too much.

Good luck with the volunteering and glad Kate is having a good time. You will definitely need to post some pictures soon.

ohh swim team. As the older sister of 3 swimmers I KNOW what you mean. My mother “volunteered” me for everything when I was in high school. I kept time, helped with food, well, everything. I’m sure it was a blast for my sibs, but I was bored senseless…haha.
