Sophie, Meet Potty. Potty, Meet Sophie.

Yesterday I literally (it had been in storage for quite awhile!) dusted off Joshua’s old potty seat and decided it was time for Sophie and her “Big Girl Potty” to officially meet. Here are some highlights!

Sophie thought it would be fun to climb onto the potty backwards and try to fit both her little feet in the removable cup:

whatever works

Then she got the cup out and played with it for awhile. Which, even though it was clean, totally grossed me out! Finally, I got her to put the cup back and assume the appropriate position:

I let her watch a little TV so she’d chill on her seat. Word Girl is good potty-time entertainment, FYI.

Twice I put her on the potty with no diaper. The first time, “nothing happened” (just like on her “My Big Girl Potty” book!) The second time, I went in the kitchen to throw her diaper away, and she stood up and peed on the floor while I was in there. Ahh, that’s my girl!

So, anyways, it’s begun. You have lots of pee-pee, poop, and other assorted potty talk to look forward to, and I probably have an increased dosage of anti-depressants, Mountain Dews, and Hershey bars to look forward to. GAME ON!

  1. Can’t wait to hear how it goes, I am working on potty training Jenna now, and lets just say its not going so well.

  2. Right there with ya, girlfriend. Sometimes B is totally willing, and sometimes not so much. The whim of a toddler….sigh.

  3. I want that hair. So beautiful.

The twins refused to have anything to do with the potty we bought and went on the toilet right away. Lucky me because I have a low yuck tolerance for this kind of thing.

  4. Good luck!

My two year old daughter just started potty training last week. It’s tough. After 11 days hunkered down in the house and half a million accidents on my floors that now need to be steam-cleaned, she just about has it figured out. But now my big concern is, what do we do with her when we leave the house and can’t have the little potty next to her all day?!

I agree with the previous commenters! Beautiful hair!

  5. Good luck! I hope you’ll tell us all about this process – what works, what doesn’t. Mainly because I’ll need to know sometime in the near future. But I’m sure maybe other readers want to know, too.

Or maybe it’s just me. But that’s enough, right? 😉

My daughter has recently discovered how fun it is to say “poop.” She even gets creative and says “poopy poop.”

    *sigh*

  6. we told josie she could pick out her OWN big girl panties if she went on the potty on her own and that seemed to work because anything with PRINCESSES got her attention pretty quick!! Good luck!

  7. Well, when you get done, come on over and tell B he is ready to use the potty, too! Sometimes I let him run around without a diaper and ask him periodically if he needs to go to the potty. He ends up peeing everywhere but the potty. I know this is normal, but I am ready, I tell ya!

  8. We’ve been working with Paige too. And by working, I mean he peeing on the floor. Yeah. Oy.

I love Sophie’s hair. So gorgeous! You haven’t cut it right? I can’t remember what the age difference between the two are, but I can’t wait for Pea’s hair to be that long.

  9. Look for a travel potty that has disposable bags you just put on the potty fold out the legs she goes and you tie the bag up and throw away. This is great for when you have to leave the house for any reason. I have used it on the side of the road, in parking lots, in penn station in nyc…. It has been a lifesaver for when there is no bathroom or when the line is too long and she can;t wait!!! I bought it at toys r us for about 15 bucks and the disposable bags are 10 for 5 bucks!!! Well worth it.
