Pinterest LIES.

One of the very first things I pinned on Pinterest many moons ago was this:

Here was the (FALSE) description:

strawberries dried in the oven. taste like candy but are healthy & natural. 3 hrs at 210 degrees……might be better than Twizzlers

So after having intended to make these for a year or two, I finally got around to trying them last night. After more than two hours of baking, I opened my oven to find this.

Those look almost the same, don’t you think?

They taste worse than they look.

I don’t know why I was surprised – the description should have tipped me off. Better than Twizzlers? There is no such thing.

  1. Ummm, super glad you tried this for me!! Sorry for the waste of time, but you saved me!

  2. There isn’t much funnier than pinterest lies/fails. this needs to become a regular topic on here. I feel like decoding the false from the true promises/descriptions on pinterest is a subtle artform… and if not learned from others, you must learn those lessons the hard way yourself. I’ve had a few lessons myself, ahem.

  3. Can I just say that out of about 20 recipes I’ve tried from Pinterest pins only ONE was edible? The rest were just plain hot messes.

  4. I dried figs in the oven once, and they actually worked. I would think strawberries would be too juicy. A fruit dryer is what you must have to do this…and doesn’t everyone need a fruit dryer? NOT!

  5. Made this because of Pinterest and they were NASTY! Good to know I am not alone in pinterest fails.
