WFMW: Slow Cooker Garlic Mashed Potatoes

In this edition of Works for Me Wednesday, we are supposed to write about our best recipes that are made with five ingredients or less! Most of my meals are pretty simple but narrowing them down to one with only five ingredients was difficult! Then I remembered my favorite special treat – garlic mashed potatoes made in the crock pot. The ingredients are: potatoes (I like mine with the peel), butter, fresh garlic, milk, and water. I generally “eyeball” it, but if you have about two pounds of potatoes, you dice them, then put them in the crock pot with a clove of pressed garlic, 1/4 cup water, and 1/4 cup butter. Cook them on low for about 7 hours or high for four hours, then beat them with an electric mixer and add the milk gradually (probably between 1/4 and 1/2 a cup is good) until you get the consistency the way you like it! If you want to be really bad and decadent, you can use sour cream instead of milk!

These are yummy and SO easy, and they really work for me! For more great recipes, check out Rocks in My Dryer.

  1. I’ll definitely have to give this a try. I very rarely make “real” mashed potatoes because of the amount of time it takes. This is a perfect recipe.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Oh wow! Those sound great! I LOVE my crockpot and would never have thought of doing mashed potatoes. Yum & thanks! 🙂
