WFMW: Effective Ten-Minute Exercise

What do Oprah Winfrey and I have in common? Well, besides the fact that we’re both female and look much younger than our age, we also both HATE exercise! I really, really, really do not like to exercise. But alas, sometimes it must be done! Especially say, when you’ve just had a baby and have 37 extra pounds to lose (or so. ish. 37-ish.)With my first kiddo I busted my butt back into shape with Tae-Bo, but with an additional and much more high-maintenance child, I needed something simpler and faster. Sorry, Billy Blanks! You and your blue unitard were gross fun while it lasted.

My solution to the need for fast effective workouts? The 10-Minute Solution series! I have these three DVDs: the 10 Minute Solution: Pilates, Rapid Results Pilates, and Carb Burner, and I LOVE them (as much as it is possible for me to love anything that has to do with exercise)!

I also have this one, but I am too retarded to do the dance moves.

I tried it three or four times and then gave up. So the first person to email me and tell me how great I am can have it if they want it. (If you live in the U.S. and if I can find it. But I am pretty sure I know where it is.) You have to be coordinated to do this one. Sadly, I am not. **Edit: Millicent took the video! Yay Millicent! I hope you can bust a move!**

Anyhoo, with the help of these fine videos (each features 5 different 10-minute work outs so you won’t get bored) I lost my baby weight from Sophie in just 110 days. It took me 5 months to lose it with Joshua! So this was a great improvement, and I actually enjoyed the Pilates DVDs. Like, I actually wanted to do them. Scary, I know. This could be addictive. I better cut back, since my coupon addiction is the only one I can handle right now. Which means my meth dealer is really gonna be bummed out!

  1. Um, Cousin, could I possibly borrow these in a few months?? I am going to need them! But count me out on the dancing one – there’s no way I could figure that out!

  2. I have one of these videos and love it. I too hate exercise and don’t really have time. 10 minutes a couple of times a week helps. I wish I could squeeze it into everyday.

  3. i have a video~~ but i can’t ever make it past the warmup part….. my gym thing lasted a week and then COUPONS TOOK OVER MY LIFE….so if cvs ever has the videos i will get them

  4. I just had this wonderful vision of you dancing in your living room to this video with, what I imagine, is laden with horrible Muzak versions of popular early-90s hit singles (if I’m wrong don’t tell me.) Anyway, as you’re dancing your heiny off, sweatin’ to the not-so-old oldies, Joshua comes running in and starts dancing with you. That’s just good ‘ol mother-son time…you simply cannot put a price on that. I only wish my mother had been more into aerobics when I was a kid and I could have danced with her. Except, that would have been the 80s and we would have been promenading to Rod Stewart’s “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” My point? Keep the video, dance with your son…he’s not gonna want to dance with you forever…like all boys, he’ll eventually be more interested in loose women and drugs. But I digress.

  5. 110 days is great to lose the baby weight. I am a year past baby’s bday and not much progress. I am getting on amazon and buying a couple tonight. The gym just isn’t working out for me and my kids. They don’t change diapers and if one of them cries, they all do. I usually get paged about 5-10 after I arrive.

Thanks for the tip! I hope it makes me skinny like you 🙂

  6. I HATE excercise too! I was just talking about this with my husband last night! Maybe I will try these – I just don’t have the time for more than 10 minutes with all the kiddos running around!
